Our inquirey this term is trying to answer the question "How Can We Work Towards Ecological Stustainability?"
First we had to try and get a grip on the vocabulary. What is 'ecological sustainability'? After a bit of disccussion this is what we came up with: eco = something to do with plants and animals
logical = something to do with thinking
sustain = keeping something going
ability = actively doing something
After lots more discussion in our groups we have concluded that ecological sustainability is thinking about and actively doing something to help keep plants and animals alive.
We decided to start our inquirey thinking about plants. We went for a walk round the school counting how many different plants we could find. Interestingly, we didn't all agree. Questions started to be asked like: Is grass a plant? All of a sudden we had loads of questions about plants. We recorded them so we could try to answer them ourselves through investigations.
